omg! there's a new planet found in the universe and you know what? it might be able to support life! if it has water, does it support other life forms? if it's vacant, are we "relocating"?

New Planet Discovered 2010 – Gliese 581 G – Scientists have discovered a new earthlike planet that could potentially support life. The catch is that the planet is more than 20 light-years way from earth. The planet which is called Gliese 581G, may be one of the biggest discoveries of our life time and could potentially provide a landing spot for us when we leave this planet someday.
We will not be able to visit the planet to see if it is fully capable of supporting life for quite some time, but the fact that we now have the planet on our radar says a lot about how far we have come in the way of technology.

Scientists are still able to study the planet for clues about how plausible inhabiting the planet could potentially one day be. The planet does not rotate, and instead revolves around the star. This means that one side of the planet is eternally baked in the heat of the star, and the other side of the planet is always in the shade.
Scientists believe that if the planet was capable of hosting life, it would be found in the slightly shaded area along the middle of the planet where it is neither too hot nor too cold.
It is there that they believe life, and potentially us, would be able to survive given the right situation. It is the first time that scientists have discovered a planet that is so much like Earth in so many ways. It will be interesting to see how this effects spending in space exploration.
